FAQs

The ingredients in Canopy's shower filter media have been shown to help reduce chlorine, magnesium, calcium carbonate, iron, hydrogen sulfide, mercury, chromium, and chloramine*. The three-stage filter uses activated carbon, copper-zinc, and calcium sulfite to capture these contaminants before the water reaches your skin and hair.

* - Filter is not independently tested for all contaminants, results will vary based on water, quality, and other factors.

Keep in mind that exactly what gets filtered can vary depending on your local water supply, since water hardness and contaminant levels differ by region. Shower filter replacements are recommended every 90 days to ensure your showerhead captures as many impurities as it's designed to. Visit our help center to learn more about what contaminants are captured.

Most municipal water systems use added chlorine. While this is effective at treating water, it has a drying effect on skin. Hard water minerals like calcium and magnesium can also cling to your hair and scalp, preventing them from absorbing moisture and leading to breakage and frizz. Shampoos and conditioners also don't rinse as cleanly in hard water, which can leave behind buildup that weighs hair down and irritates the scalp.

Using our chlorine shower filter is one of the simplest ways to address all these issues at once.

The Canopy Filtered Showerhead was designed to fit all standard U.S. showers with a standard thread size. Just unscrew your existing showerhead by turning it counterclockwise by hand or with the included wrench, then twist on the Canopy showerhead clockwise until it's secure.

There's no plumber and no tools required in most cases, and most people have their showerheads up and running in under 5 minutes. Check out our full visual installation guide, or watch our video guide here.

The Canopy Filtered Showerhead has three spray settings, which you can switch between via a sliding notch on the bottom of the fixture. Wide is great for a full rinse, narrow gives you a more focused and pressured stream, and dual combines both for a balanced in-between.

You can toggle between these stream settings mid-shower without any interruption. Learn more about adjusting the water pressure on your Canopy showerhead.

Both use the same shower filter, so the difference is the versatility. The Filtered Showerhead is ideal for those who prefer a standard showerhead experience from above. The Handheld Filtered Showerhead is best for those who want more flexibility and control, coming with a standard spray nozzle and protruding nozzle for scalp massages. The handheld version also has an extended hose, which is helpful for washing pets, bathing kids, and watering plants.

Still undecided? All Canopy showerheads are compatible with each other, and The Shower System bundles both together. We can help you choose between these products.

Your bathroom taps deliver more than just water. Chlorine and hard water minerals are present in most tap water across the US, affecting your skin and hair every time you shower.

Canopy's water filtration collection is designed to address this at every point of contact in your bathroom. The Filtered Showerhead and Handheld Filtered Showerhead bring filtered water to your showers, the Baby Bath Tub Filter and Bath Tub Filter keep bath time gentler for sensitive skin, and the Faucet Filter brings the benefits to your sink for face and hand washing. Every showerhead has been tested to ANSI/NSF-177 standards for chlorine reduction.

Our bath water filters and shower filters are meant to be replaced every 90 days, with a subscription option that takes the guesswork out of the schedule.

All Canopy water filters use the same technology and are fully compatible with each other, so it's easy to build a setup that works for your bathroom and other parts of your home.
