Your Humidifier won't operate properly without it, and it's what keeps the air you breathe clean, free of mineral buildup, and safe for you and yours.
Your Canopy Humidifier Filter is built to capture and trap the minerals naturally found in tap water, like calcium and magnesium, along with other impurities. Left unfiltered, these minerals can be released into the air as your Humidifier runs.
With other humidifiers on the market, especially Ultrasonic units, you run the risk of "white dust," a fine, powdery residue that settles onto your furniture and belongings. That happens when water is vaporized into the air without a filter to catch what's left behind: the minerals in your tap water.
Canopy's filter is designed to capture these materials before they reach the air, locking them safely inside.
As minerals and impurities collect, the white paper of the filter will change color, which is a visual cue that it's doing its job. You may see shades of pink, brown, orange, or other hues depending on the minerals in your water. That's a good thing: it means your filter is actively working to keep your humidification clean and safe.
The recommended replacement interval is every 5 to 7 weeks (about every 45 days), though the actual lifespan depends on how hard your water is. Keep an eye on your filter's condition to know when it's time for a swap. Once it becomes crusty, hardened, or heavily discolored, it's ready to be replaced.
To help your filter last and keep your Humidifier performing well, let it dry out completely at least once a week. It's a simple habit that goes a long way for your filter's efficiency and your overall Canopy experience.
A small update to your filter's design
You may start noticing a small change to your Canopy Humidifier Filter, we've added a notch cut into the bottom, where it sits in your Humidifier's tray.
This is a design update, not a new filter. It works exactly the same as the filter you have now: same materials, same filtration, same replacement schedule. The notch does two things for you. It makes it easier to tell which way your filter should face when you drop it into the tray, so there's no guesswork on orientation. It also keeps your filter cross-compatible with future Canopy Humidifiers, so you won't have to think twice about which filter to order down the road.
If the filter you have doesn't include the notch yet, that's completely normal. Both the notched and non-notched versions fit and function the same way in your current Humidifier's tray, so you can keep using whichever one arrives with your next order.
