Why Do Canopy Humidifiers Use Paper Filters?
Both the original Humidifier Filter and Filter 2.0 (the upgrade) are made from wood pulp. The wicking paper captures impurities, including hard water minerals, to filter air and water before evaporation while the humidifier runs.

Signs It's Time for a Swap
Every 45 days is how often to replace a humidifier filter. The "Filter" light on top of your device will light up when it's time for a swap.
Additionally, there are visual cues that indicate when to change the humidifier filter. The filter paper starts white, and it changes color as it captures minerals and impurities. The filter typically turns pink, brown, or orange (depending on the mineral composites in the tap water). The discoloration, as well as the hardening of the filter, makes it easier to identify when it's time to replace it.
It's also a good idea to air out the filter once a week. Doing so supports an optimal Canopy experience while extending the humidifier's life. There's no need to stress over the question, "How long does a humidifier last?"
Filter Replacement How-to
Whether you have the Bedside Humidifier 2.0, Nursery Humidifier 2.0, one of the original models, or the Large Room Humidifier, replacing the filter is a no-brainer:
- Unplug the device.
- Lift the unit's body to reveal the filter in the water tray.
- Remove the old filter and replace it with the new one, ensuring proper positioning.
- Plug in the device.
- To reset the filter sensor, hold the on/off button until the light goes off.

How to Care for a Canopy Portable Humidifier

To keep your Portable Humidifier clean, you can wash the water tank and cap in the top rack of your dishwasher. You can also hand-wash these components. Fill the tank with warm, soapy water, rinse it thoroughly, and allow the components to air-dry.
Please note that the Chrome Purple Dr. Idriss Portable Humidifier's water tank and cap must be hand-washed.
To clean the bottom of the unit, use a damp rag or antibacterial wipe to eliminate any dust. This area stores the electrical components, so take care to avoid any excess moisture. Wipe down the top of the basin and the bottom fan intake weekly to remove any accumulated debris.
