As the temperatures start to dip and heaters turn on, it’s the perfect time to bring your Canopy Humidifier back out of storage. Many of us tuck our humidifiers away during the warmer months, but as Fall rolls in, your skin, sinuses, and overall wellness will thank you for setting yours up again.
Before you fill your tank and switch it on, here are a few quick steps to make sure your unit is ready for another season of clean, hydrated air.
Give Your Humidifier a Thorough Clean
If your humidifier was stored without being fully dried, you might notice some leftover buildup in the tray or tank. This is simply residue from dried tap water. most cosmetic issues like discoloration, buildup, or dust will be resolved with a reset clean.

For the Bedside and Nursery Humidifiers 1.0s: The tank, cap, and tray can all go on the top shelf of your dishwasher. For the body of the unit, unplug it and gently wipe the inside with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe. If you see dust in the fan, a quick spray of canned air followed by a wipe down will do the trick, you might also consider using a citric acid cleaner on your fan. If there’s buildup on the water probes (the two small metal rods on the base), wipe them with a damp paper towel or melamine sponge. Full instructions here.

For the Bedside and Nursery Humidifiers 2.0s and Large Room Humidifier: The top grill, water tank, cap, and tray can all be cleaned on the top shelf of your dishwasher. To clean the body, unplug the unit, remove the grill, and wipe inside with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe. Full instructions here.
Check Your Filter
Your filter is the heart of your Canopy Humidifier, and it may need a refresh after sitting unused. The fitler you used last year, may still be good to use, the most reliable way to check is look and feel. If your filter feels crusty or hardened, or if you notice discoloration throughout the full length of the filter, it’s best to swap it out before starting the season. You can order
new filters here.
